According to our team charter, our bi-annual elections are due at the end of the year. If you are interested in running for a major (President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary) or minor (Fundraising, Social, Races, Asst. Secretary) position, please contact either Todd or myself. The commitment isn’t that huge - it really just depends on attending a few yearly meetings. Please let one of us know by the end of November.
Along with elections, comes the new year. This means renewal of membership fees ($25/year). Last year, 25 Wednesday runners were AREC members, and helped the club be insured, place a few advertisements, print monthly newsletters, host a pre-marathon pasta party (see below), and received a team T-shirt. At our December Board Meeting, we will discuss our budget, what team membership should provide, and club events. REMEMBER, if you recruit a new AREC paying member (not a member in 2000 or 2001), you will receive a membership rebate of $5 (one rebate per member per year).
Along with the new year, comes resolutions. Many of you should be resolving to... write articles for the newsletter. I’m going to attempt to make things easier for you by doing features on various team members. If you are chosen for this honor, please give me a few minutes of your time - I will even write the article MYSELF! I’m also looking into doing a feature on upcoming races for the month, but I need input from runners who have competed in them (other than myself) to get a well-rounded feature.
