All of our big events (Pasta Party, LB races, and Win’s post-marathon Liar’s Party) were a big success! I think we had about 80 people at the Pasta Party and over 60 members participated in one of the three Long Beach events (Full, Half or 5K) – our largest turnout ever!
Special thanks to everyone who helped out at either party and the marathon (including people who didn’t run, but volunteered and/or cheered others on).
Besides filling up on pasta, the awards previously listed in the newsletter were handed out, cheer cards for each of the training group, and the Runner of the Year awards.
If you think you were due a certificate and missed the party, see me, because I still have your cheer card or award.
Special congratulations to our Runners of the Year, Tam Premsrirath and Brian Conboy.
Further End-of-Year business. Now that the marathon is over, there are a couple of events left for this year. At the end of November, we will have our last Board Meeting of the Year, tentatively planned for November 29th, at 8pm, at Coach’s in Seal Beach. AREC Elections are held in odd-numbered years, however, we will be discussing our plans for 2007. Considerably before the meeting, we are discussing what benefits AREC will provide (like shirts AGAIN or hats or backpacks or singlets?). If you have a preference, let Todd, Tam, Win or Emmett know.
Christmas party. There will be a Christmas party in December. Further details will follow as soon as they become available. If you would like to help out, we have a “venue,” but I’m sure they could use some assistance.
Dues. In January, there will be constant reminders about dues, but this is going to be the last posting for 2006. AREC Membership runs January – December (and doesn’t go by when you actually got around to joining or first started running with us). Dues pay for our insurance, team shirts, awards, food for parties, etc. The more members, the more “stuff” we can do.
