Membership. Just a reminder that 2009 is rapidly coming to a close. If you want to get a jumpstart on renewing, you can bring cash or a check to an AREC run (or to Todd Rose). To simplify the process for in-person renewals, you will need to confirm your current address, phone number, e-mail and birthdate with Todd. You can also renew online via Active.com (for a small credit card processing fee).
Elections. We are currently holding elections for the 2010-2011 AREC Board. Ballots will be available at Wednesday runs, or you can e-mail your vote to Emmett.
AREC Christmas Party. In a change from previous years, we are holding the AREC Christmas Party at Buster's Beach House after the December 16th Wednesday Run. Festivities will begin with a Jingle Bell Run ($2, I believe), with valuable prizes randomly awarded. They continue on with food, drink, live music (until 10pm) and a gift exchange (bring a wrapped gift (under $10)). More intricate details went out by e-mail this week.
Clif Recycle. Clif bar wrapper (and any wrapper that is metallic on the inside, including Nature Made Granola Bars) recycling continues. It benefits both the environment and AREC.
Trail Training continues. Whether you are training for a trail race or not, Trail Training is excellent for building up endurance on ANY surface. Details about each week's run come via the Catalina e-mail group. If you are not on the list, you can add yourself via the Club Updates link on the main page or contact Bob Filacchione. Carpools leave Joe's Crab Shack at 7:00am promptly on Saturday mornings and the runs usually start at 8am at the trailhead. There are various distance runs at each location, ranging from beginner level to specific distance training for the upcoming Buffalo Half Marathon (Feb.) and the Catalina Marathon (Mar.)
