Emmett Rahl Column - February 2000

Well, I’m getting pretty excited. When it comes to doing races, I usually see one or two people I know, and only because we chanced to do the same race on the same weekend. However, in just a few days, a bunch of us (from AREC and LBH3, seemingly synonymous with each other, these days) will be caravaning up to Las Vegas for our first “official” Team Run of the ‘00 decade. We should do these more often (even in town, maybe...).

Another exciting happening is so many regulars not only showing up EVERY Wednesday, but actually competing in races. Congratulations to JoAnn Levandoski and others for completing their first half-marathon last weekend! On that same note, I have been doing a little research into perhaps getting team jerseys and/or shorts. If you have computer access, check out http://www.ghsports.com (they are interested in giving us a 30% team discount) or www.venuesports.com (they can give us a good rate for imprinted uniforms - check out styles in nylon tricot). If you don’t have computer access, talk to Bernard Dean Mills about places you can go to check the web and e-mail for free.

I’m doing my best to post results for races. If you know of a race you’re doing, call/e-mail me before or after the race so that I can pull the results off the web (or if you know your time, overall place and age group place, tell me that). On the same note, if your name isn’t on the phone list, could you call/e-mail me with your name and information?

Finally, good turnout on the newsletter articles. I would love to get an article from anyone who has run a race of any distance for the first time or about the Las Vegas experience. Thanks!
