Long Beach Marathon Training Begins! OK. We haven’t given much notice on this fact, but wanted to get your attention early. Our marathon training program for both beginning and intermediate runners will begin in mid-May. If you are planning to run the marathon, we would welcome you run with us or host a long run (hosting simply involves showing up and representing the club). If you have any questions, contact myself, Dennis or Liz.
Shirts are here! If you’ve paid your membership, shirts are in (including Small). Additional shirts are available for $12 for members ($15 for non-members).
If you haven’t joined AREC, and you enjoy running with us, we encourage you to join. The $25/year membership fee pays for insurance, advertising, shirts, social events, and more! See any of the board members for an application (or Emmett for a pre-printed renewal form). talk to any of the board members).
Daylight Saving Time has begun. Still, it may get dark before the end of your run. I encourage you to still wear a reflector vest or light-colored clothing for the remainder of spring. SAFETY is still the number one club priority. Make sure you are aware of people, bicycles and cars at all times.
Palos Verdes Marathon is coming up in May. There is also a 5K and a half. The temperature is usually foggy-cool and a nice small long-time (over 30 years) event. Last year, AREC had about 10 compete and a have a great time. The race-day entry fee is reasonable, too! Contact me if you have any interest. I’m hoping to run 4 to 4-1/2 hours, nice and easy.
