Next month will be the one year anniversary of the revival of the AREC Newsletter. Of course, I was not in the group when the old newsletter was in effect. The most exciting thing for me in the past 12 months is watching the group expand from less than 10 people per week to last week’s amazing 30!
What I’m hoping will happen is that everyone will submit a paragraph or two about their favorite AREC moment. What I’m thinking will happen is that I will have to ramble on about MY favorite memories of AREC (which, by the way, I do EVERY month!).
Believe it or not, we are still looking into the possibility of getting team jerseys. I would appreciate any feedback about styles, cut, color, and design. I’m talking with a number of suppliers, but I need this input to make the decision.
Finally, starting this Tuesday, for anyone who is interested, there will be a group of us meeting at 6:30 at Hill & Redondo (6:00 for warm-up and drills) to do a hill workout. If you think you’ve mastered the challenge of the 2nd Street Bridge, then this is for you. Additionally, this may often be a nice change for those of you a little bored with the same course every week!
I just want to put in a special thanks to Barb Hager, one of our most loyal members, who is moving back to Port Townsend this month. Countless times, she drove us to workouts and races, while only slightly hopped up on Red Bull! We will sorely miss her fashionable outfits and exuberant presence.
Thanks to everyone for making AREC a really great and fun group to run with on Wednesdays!
