On July 25, AREC had its 3rd board meeting this year. We discussed a few issues that everyone may want to be aware of: Todd Byers produced a possible team fundraiser - Cosmic Bowling in Seal Beach. There was also a suggestion to see if Limerick’s would be interested in covering part of the cost of team uniform, in exchange for advertisement. Speaking of team uniform, Tim Hickok found a place that costs about half the price of our first place, but they only do shirts. I’d appreciate it if people would let me know if they prefer T-shirts, tank tops or jog bras, so we can place our order. I also had been looking into shorts, hats and socks. I found a local supplier that can do socks for about $6/pair, with up to 6 colors. Again, if you have interest, please come to me and display your excitement. We also discussed the advertisement situation. Competitor’s prices have gone up, but they are our best source for new runners (that, and word of mouth), so we will continue with them, a listing in the Press-Telegram, and business cards. Finally, we decided that, since the year is half over, we will be offering membership for the second half of the year at the discounted rate of $15 (and we will be looking into some bonus for people who have been members all year). It’s also the last month of the Grand Prix. See if you can make the top ten, or nominate your friends for awards!
