Wow! It's September already, and the AREC Racing Grand Prix starts anew on September 1st. I'm sure the overall results will be a little more accurate, as I can get more results (than my own) as they happen. Still, I hope to see more race participation (walkers and runners), which helps to promote and strengthen our club (maybe we'll just take over Limerick's on Wednesdays!).
The final results are in for the Grand Prix and I've listed the results below. In the next couple of weeks, there will be some certificates for the Top 10 finishers, the Most Improved Runner, the Best Age Group runner and the Most Valuable runner.
It's been really exciting the past few weeks, because we've had several weeks with over 10 participants. On August 18th, we had 7-8 peole go out in the front pack (some weeks, we didn't have 7-8 people, TOTAL!), and on August 11th, we ordered 7 plates of chicken wings. So, it's been really fun.
Long Beach Marathon update: If you are planning to be around the week of November 12-14, I hope you participate in one of the races (5K, 1/2 or Full Marathon) or volunteer for a water station. Todd suggested that we might get an AREC hotel room at the Westin as a kind of headquarters, and I have a friend (who works for Westin) who might get us a good rate. If you're not into volunteering, just come out and cheer for us (try and outshout the Team in Training crowds). In the next few weeks, we're going to try and get a map with mile markers of the course, and possibly arrange some weekend where we can practice running some of the course.
