To all of Mel’s fellow runners in AREC,
We were very touched by your desire to honor Mel. He was a dedicated runner/jogger/walker, because he was determined to be here for us as long as possible. Knowing that he was liked and appreciated by so many people has been a real comfort to us. He was grateful for all the advances in medical knowledge and treatment that helped him enjoy a better quality of life for a longer time. He would appreciate your gift to continue research into the disease that claimed his life and devastates so many families every year. Our daughter has inherited his particular blood chemistry, so it would definitely be his heart’s desire to find treatments that will benefit her.
