Steve Schatz Column - July 2003 (National AIDS Marathon)

This is an enormous fundraising event. Monies raised will benefit AIDS Project L.A., one of the largest AIDS service organizations in the country. They provide direct services to over 10,000 men, women and children living with AIDS, including bilingual information, advocacy, home health care, counseling, and food & shelter.

To date, 25 million people worldwide have died from AIDS and 42 million live with AIDS. I consider this to be an immense tragedy, so it is my intention to make a difference by raising money.

Along with the others in my program, I’m committed to raising $3,000 by September 3rd. Any donation would be greatly appreciated, because in some cases, certain businesses will match your donation.

I’ll bring some donation forms to the Wednesday runs. Also, you can make donations online at: http://www.aidsmarathon.com/participant.jsp?runner=LA-3736&year=2003 Thanks!
