On Sunday, December 3, Todd Byers and Tawni Gomes completed the New Las Vegas Marathon earning them status in the AREC 2005 Marathon-A-Month Club. This was Todd’s second year of qualification and Tawni’s first.
Started within AREC a few years ago by Dennis Murphy, the Marathon-A-Month Club is for those AREC members who complete at least one marathon distance run (26.2 miles) in each calendar month.
Many other AREC members completed multiple marathon events throughout the year. Notably, Stacy Shourt was on track until she missed the Pikes Peak Marathon in August. However, she did successfully complete several other marathons in many months of 2005.
For those who wish to start this quest for 2006 (a Resolution, perhaps?), it is not yet too late! Be sure to ask our fellow AREC’ers about their favorite marathon events. They are sure to be able to tell you where to go!!
