The Long Beach International City Bank Marathon (LBICBM) needs YOU!
A Running Experience Club is the official training club for this years LBICBM which will be held on Sunday, October 10, 2004. As such, many club members have been working hard with the established AREC training program in order to prepare athletes both experienced and not experienced to ensure comfortable completions of their chosen distances.
But running the marathon is only one aspect of the event. The LBICBM also incorporates 1000s of volunteers to make this large undertaking for 10,000+ participants an enjoyable and successful day for all. This year, as in the past, AREC is a valuable resource in making this happen.
Even if a person plans on running in one of the LBICBM events, there are many opportunities to volunteer before and after the race in addition to on the day itself. Beforehand, currently needed are persons to do the following tasks amongst others: Goody Bag Stuffing, Office Volunteer, No ParkingESign Detail, and Marathon EXPO (the two days beforehand). On that Sunday the 10th, still needed are volunteers to staff the Start/Finish Line, the Finish Line Festival, Course, Water Stations, and Sweeper Crew.
Already have some Event Volunteer experience? Captains are needed in the areas of EXPO, Event Supervision, Section Commanders, Course Management/Set-up, and Water Stations.
Please contact AREC Officers Todd Rose or Todd Byers to sign up for any of these tasks. Each one of them has a Volunteer Instruction ManualEwhich describes in detail each of these areas of responsibility so that you will know what they are getting into! If you have further questions, you may also contact LBICBM Race Director Blair Cohn directly at 562-728-8829 x1.
So come out and support this years Long Beach International City Bank Marathon not only by running but also by volunteering. Remember, you can do both!!
