I went to see Dr. Dossman, or Doc as people call him, about a month ago. He e-mailed the AREC Board Members and said we could come in for a free taping session.
I thought I’d give it a try! Why not? I checked out the website, read testimonials and watched a few YouTube videos. I was impressed by the number of elite athletes Doc as worked with, from track and field stars to Olympians to NFL players.
I told Doc about my plantar fasciitis in both feet and he applied Cold Laser Therapy to my heel area. I was told that Cold Laser Therapy is used to help with swelling and tendonitis and helps injuries heal faster as it works down to the cell level.
Doc taped up my heels and my knees. I left the office and could feel it immediately. I walked down the hall and felt a lightness in my legs.
I did my long run the next day and my heels didn’t hurt as much as they normally do after a run. I still felt good days later. The tape can be left on for more than a week! I think it’s worth a try. Doc has mainly worked with track and field athletes and is interested in trying out his taping technique on long distance runners.

Dossman Advantage Taping (DAT) was discovered by sport chiropractor, Dr. Craig Dossman, Jr. He wanted to develop a taping system to enhance proprioception, speed, and biomechanics for runners. By testing various runners from different events, he charted and realized that he was getting similar feedback.
If you’re interested in the taping system or need a good doctor to help with your running injuries, here’s his contact information:
