I've been with AREC… for about 5 years.
My running experience with AREC has been... fun.
I like AREC because… they're a fun group.
I've been running…every day for the past 10 years because it gives me a chance to think, it gives me achance to have fun, and hang out with people. I’ve been running for 15 years, since college.
When I'm not running...I'm usually at work or playing guitar.
My favorite running shoe brand is...New Balance.
My pre-race meal is...I don't eat before a race.
After a race I treat myself to...I used to go to Dunkin' Donuts. Now, it's usually Guinness.
My favorite race is...Pacific Shoreline Marathon. I did the inaugural. It's along the beach, back and forth. You can hear the ocean the whole way.
Running mantra…Live fast, run fast.
I'm inspired by...It's hard to narrow down, there's so much inspiration. I did Long Beach two years ago when it was really hot. I remember seeing the people that were finishing in the heat of the day and still having a good time. I was very impressed by that. I'm inspired by the people who keep it fun, who always have a good time.
When I run I think about…anything from nothing at all to serious labwork to very wild fantastic…it depends on the day!
My best training tip…run hills! Hills are fun!
I love…when you get the perfect song stuck in your head and the rhythm of the song is exactly the rhythm you're running. Everything clicks with that moment.
I hate…downhills.
My biggest pet peeve…people who take up a sidewalk; they see you coming and they won't move to give you half the sidewalk.
I like 5K's because…it's a chance to feel fast.
I like 10K's because…it gives you a chance to think about the race.
I like marathons because…I don't know why I like it.
I wish…I could do a 100 miler.
