My running experience with AREC has been…great! It’s been fantastic! Great people, met a lot of good friends, met my husband!
I’ve been with AREC since…the end of September 2003, 2 weeks before the 2003 Long Beach Marathon.
The best thing about AREC is…finishing 5 miles and having a drink with friends afterwards.
I run because…I can.
When I’m not running I…eat and drink wine.
My favorite running surface is…asphalt.
My pre-race meal is…cup of coffee, 1/2 cup of apple juice, a banana, toast with peanut butter and half an hour before the race, a Clif Bar.
After a race I treat myself to…food! And a lot of it! Greasy food! Stuff you wouldn’t eat!
My favorite race is…Port Angeles Half Marathon [Olympic Peninsula in the state of Washington.] It’s a small race, beautiful scenery and incredibly friendly and supportive volunteers and race director.
My goal is…to continue running ‘til I’m 90 or I die, whichever comes first.
My running mantra…it depends where I’m at in a race. If it’s Mile 24 out of 26, it’s “You’re doin’ great!” and if it’s a shorter run it’s “Keep running, keep running!” like “Keep swimming, keep swimming.”
I’m inspired by…Heather.
My best training tip…stay hydrated and good running shoes.
The best advice I ever got was…when one door closes, another one opens.
I want to improve in…speed.
I love…a good bottle of wine, a fabulous meal and candlelight with Rich.
I hate…walkers in a race that are 5-7 people across who are in the front of the pack.
I run marathons because…of the whole race atmosphere, i.e., fun and the crowd!
I wish…that Heather beats her disease.
My best experience was…running the Long Beach Marathon in 2003. My goal was 4:40:00 and I came in at 4:41:_ _ and some seconds. So my goal is still 4:40:00—I can do it!!!
To all… AREC is a wonderful club with wonderful people!
