My profession… Paralegal at the Long Beach City Attorney’s Office.
As a child, I wanted to be… a truck driver or a model… extreme career choices, I know, and good thing I didn’t pursue either. I’d be out of a job for sure.
I started running in… 2005 when a friend, who I thought was a friend at the time, suggested we run the San Francisco Nike Women’s Marathon. She’s lucky I still talk to her…
In five words or less, I’d describe myself as… funny, friendly, responsible, and dependable.
My favorite word is… Usually written on a banner and says: “FINISH”
My life/sport philosophy… “Life is too short to drink cheap wine?” I read that on a T-shirt. Actually, I think life is too short to sit on the couch.
My favorite spot to be active… Huntington Beach bike path. I enjoy the ocean views.
Athletic highlights… I think running across the Golden Gate Bridge was a very cool thing to do.
My running experience with AREC has been… incredible. The people are friendly, fun, and inspiring. I really appreciate all the efforts put in by Todd, Dave, Emmett, Tam, Nicole and the other members that keep the club going strong. I know everything they do for AREC takes a lot of time and dedication.
I’ve been with AREC since… 2007. Karen and I trained for the LA Marathon before joining AREC. We wanted to run the Long Beach marathon that same year and Anne suggested we show up to an AREC run. When we saw the number of people out there for the Saturday training run, we quickly realized that misery loves company.
The best thing about AREC is… the people. What a great group of individuals. Everyone I have met has been supportive, friendly, and positive!
I run because… I have to. I can’t imagine being at home while my friends are out on a run.
When I’m not running… I am hanging out with my husband, Robin, and two boys, Grant, Age 12 and Brad, Age 10. They both play baseball and it’s really fun watching their games.
My pre-race meal is… a Banana and a muffin.
After a race I treat myself to… An ice cold beer.
My favorite race… the San Francisco half marathon.
I run marathons or half marathons because… being signed up for races keeps me motivated to train hard and consistently.
My goal is… to finish a half Ironman triathlon.
My running mantra… “Finish strong.”
I’m inspired by… Karen, Anne, Mistii, Claudia, Geri, Nadine, Leigh, Diane, Laura and Christina to name a few. All of them are great athletes, and they inspire me in different ways.
My best training tip… don’t eat oatmeal before a long run.
I want to improve in… running faster.
If I could run with anyone famous, it would be… Lance Armstrong. My brother Mike lives out of state. Although he is not famous, it would be really awesome to run a race with my brother.
I love… my family and friends.
I hate… tomatoes, earthquakes, and long port-a-potty lines.
If I could take only one more journey, I would go to… Ireland.
The one person living or dead who I’d most love to have a beer with is… my Dad. He would be happy to know that I have a great life.
To all… I wish everyone happiness, good health, and no injuries.
