My profession…Pediatric Physical Therapist.
I started running in…high school to keep in shape for soccer. Heather Stevens is the one who introduced me to running groups like AREC and hashing about 8-9 years ago. Much more fun to run with a group of cool people.
My life/sport philosophy…Have fun and enjoy the journey.
My favorite spot to be active is…near the beach or on a trail.
Athletic highlights…3 marathons and 1 Ironman.
My running experience with AREC has been…nothing but fun. Great group of people whom I have enjoyed getting to know over the years.
I’ve been with AREC since…I think I started coming around 1999 or 2000 with Heather Stevens.
The best thing about AREC is…cold beer after the runs (although I can't have any right now).
I run because…it feels good and I like to break a sweat.
When I’m not running I…like to hang with my husband Tommy, listen to music, read, and travel.
My favorite running surface is…a great soft trail (best trail is in Seaside or at the end of the Hood to Coast race).
My pre-race meal is…something with good carbs, pasta or rice, maybe a beer (helped my PR for the 1/2 marathon last May in Solvang).
After a race I treat myself to…a bunch of food.
My favorite race is…Hood to Coast. It’s is a lot of fun with a good group of people. I also had a great experience at CIM last December.
My goal is…to begin running after the baby comes in early July and get myself ready for a fall half marathon and then a marathon in early 2009. Not too concerned with times, just want to feel good. I also have a goal of being healthy enough to run for a long time to come.
My running mantra…light and fast, or just make it to the next light pole. More lately the mantra because I am pregnant: I have to pee again;where's the next bathroom???
I’m inspired by…people who always remain positive and don't let anything change their perspectives.
My best training tip…increase mileage slowly and change running shoes regularly (every few months).
The best advice I ever got was…lose the watch and forget about time.
I want to improve in…speed and endurance
I love…playing and being outside as much as possible.
I hate…mean and negative people.
I run marathons because…I like to challenge myself.
I wish…to remain uninjured so that I can keep coming back to AREC to run and hang out afterwards.
My best experience was…finishing any race and feeling good regardless of the time on the clock.
To all…have a great day and enjoy the journey!!
