My running experience with AREC has been…wonderful! I’ve met wonderful people.
I’ve been with AREC since…August 2003.
I run with AREC because…I need company.
I run because…I would die if I didn’t run. I need it. I do it for myself. It’s one of the few, few things I do for me.
When I’m not running I…work, go to school (Master’s in Nursing), raise four kids (ages 15, 11, 9 and 6) and try to keep up with laundry!
My favorite running shoe brand…right now is Brooks, but that can change on a whim.
My pre-race meal is…nothing. I might drink hot tea but I don’t eat. My favorite thing to eat during a race is boiled potatoes with salt!
My favorite race is…I’ve run a lot of nice races but I think what makes a race good is my attitude when I’m running and that makes it a good race.
My goal is…I’d like to graduate next year and not flunk out of school. My goal is also to be a better parent and kick my kids out and still have a life when they’re grown. I have so many goals. I want to sample different kinds of beer and enjoy wine.
Running mantra…I don’t have one unless I’m mad. And I can’t repeat what my mantra is when I’m mad!
I’m inspired by…people who give their all. And it doesn’t have to be good…people who give their best and enjoy it while they’re doing it. It doesn’t matter how good they are.
When I run I think about…I think I go into a semi-coma. I don’t really think about anything. Sometimes I pray. I don’t really think about anything. I feel more then I think.
My best training tip…I think it’s important to drink enough and I don’t just mean beer!
The best advice I ever got…I think it was the person who got me hooked on electrolyte capsules (Enduralyte). I take one every hour when I race.
I love…my kids.
I hate…bad drivers. I get road rage really, really bad.
I get annoyed when…people fight.
I like running marathons because…I’m not very good at anything and it’s something I can do. I’m not talented at anything but I can do it.
I wish…I could own a house.
My best experience…I can’t share it!
