Solana Triathlon 2000

The Wild Triathlon (E.Rahl)

You’d think with all the people trying their first triathlon, that they’d write a sentence or two about it. Apparently, it wasn’t all that fun or memorable. For me, as in my last one, it was quite a “tri”-al, as I had a head cold, the surf was rough, and I may have been the first person EVER to do a rough water swim without a wet suit AND wearing eyeglasses!

Then came the bike. Although I don’t remember this precisely, Tim says that I said, “I can’t feel my hands,” as I was attempting to put on my socks. I’ll be the first to say that transitions are not my thing. And then, my bike gears didn’t shift properly. At least I had a good run.

We watched a little of the awards, where Ed Villalobos’s son, Erik, won a prize in the duathlon (run bike run).
