Run in the Sun Cruise - by Dona McBride

About a year ago a friend of mine saw an ad on the internet for a Run in the Sun cruise package. The deal was a 7-day trip to several islands in the Caribbean, coaching and entry into 2 races, plus group runs. Each day included a run or a race and group get-togethers, including swims, spinning or other activity. So we signed up to go. The cruise itself was about $1200 and the round trip flight from LAX to Puerto Rico was $530. The ship had over 3000 passengers, but our group was about 170. The cruise was on the Princess cruise line. We went to Barbados, St. Lucia, St. Maarten, St. Thomas, Antigua and Puerto Rico. We ran in a 5K and a 10 K and went on a hash run with the Antigua Hash House Harriers.

Bart Yasso from Runner's World and Lisa Bentley, an Ironman champion from Canada, were speakers and participants in all of the group activities. Bart Yasso also held a gait analysis clinic in the ship's workout room for the group. There usually 2 activities each day, but there was still plenty of time to do things on your own (shopping!!), too.The weather was in the 80s and sunny. The islands were tropical and fabulous and I had the best time. I would highly recommend it to anyone.
